Year in Yarn: your Ravelry Wrapped
Year in Yarn is a free, Spotify Wrapped-style look back at your knitting and crochet. Sign in with your Ravelry account, pick a year, a season or a month, and tap through your stats as a set of slides.
What it shows
- How many projects you finished and started, split into knitting and crochet
- How much yarn you used, in metres or yards, compared with a landmark
- Your favourite yarns, brands, yarn weights and designers
- Your busiest months
- Your fastest finish and longest project, what you made, and how many projects you frogged
- The projects still on your needles, and the ones hibernating
At the end, it makes images sized for social media, so you can share your year. Tag @threecatsyarn so I can see!
Savage mode
Tap the cat on the start screen three times for savage mode, an easter egg with no mercy. It compares the patterns you bought with the ones you actually cast on, and the yarn you stashed with the yarn you used. Then it tells you how many years your stash would last at this rate, and calls you out if you made one of Ravelry's most popular patterns.
Why I made it
I'm Mel, a knitter in Sydney, and I used to dye yarn as Three Cats Yarn. Ravelry holds years of my projects, so I built a Wrapped for them, like Spotify's, with help from Claude. I never would have had the time to build it on my own.
Questions
- Is there a Ravelry Wrapped?
- Ravelry doesn't make one itself, but Year in Yarn is exactly that: a Spotify Wrapped-style look back at your Ravelry projects.
- Is it free?
- Yes, completely free.
- Is it safe to sign in with Ravelry?
- You sign in on Ravelry's own site, so Year in Yarn never sees your password, and your projects and stats aren't stored. The privacy page explains exactly what is.
- Is it made by Ravelry or Spotify?
- No. It's an independent project that uses Ravelry's public API, and isn't affiliated with Ravelry or Spotify.
- Does it work for crochet?
- Yes. It covers knitting and crochet, and shows how many of each you finished.
